The most important two weeks of the offseason have arrived.
The transfer portal officially opened on Friday, kicking off a two-week period where thousands of players will enter in pursuit of a new home. It will remain open until January 16, the final day for player movement ahead of the 2026 season.
For Rutgers, it will be a crucial stretch in both directions. Its top priority will be revamping a historically-bad defense while retaining its top offensive weapons like running back Antwan Raymond and wide receiver KJ Duff.
They have had mixed news in that department already: star wide receiver Ian Strong announced his intention to enter the portal on Thursday afternoon, while starting offensive linemen Kobe Asamoah and Tyler Needham announced they are staying.
Strong is the most prominent of the 13 Scarlet Knights that have declared their intention to enter the portal in the past couple of weeks. The rest of the list includes two starting cornerbacks, a defensive captain, depth at running back and young defensive players who were not close to seeing the field.
