The Giants’ search for a new head coach is well underway, and a familiar name just joined their list of candidates.
According to Mike Klis of 9News, the Giants have expressed interest in interviewing Broncos passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Davis Webb for their vacant position.
Webb was a third-round pick of the Giants in 2017. He spent 2018 with the Jets then had a stint with the Bills before returning to the Giants in 2022 as a backup quarterback. He made his first regular season NFL start in the Giants season finale against the Eagles that year, because they had already secured the No. 6 seed in the NFC. In that game, he threw a touchdown pass to Kenny Golladay and added another rushing score.
After that season, he was hired by the Broncos.
Webb would be a long shot to get the job, with ex-Ravens coach John Harbaugh and ex-Browns coach Kevin Stefanski emerging as the favorites for the organization. Stefanski interviewed with the team on Wednesday (1/7).
On Thursday (1/8), the Giants have interviews scheduled with former Falcons coach Raheem Morris and Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.
The Giants will interview former Raider coach Antonio Pierce on Friday (1/9) and former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy on Tuesday (1/13).
The Giants also have interviews scheduled with Lou Anarumo (Colts defensive coordinator), Kliff Kingsbury (ex-Commanders offensive coordinator), Klint Kubiak (Seahawks offensive coordinator).
They have already completed their interview with Mike Kafka, who served as interim head coach after Brian Daboll was fired.
