A restaurant developed by one of the daughters of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice is preparing to launch in Bergen County.
Slated to open this spring on Center Avenue downtown Westwood, Il Vero will represent a partnership between Giudice’s 24-year-old daughter, Gia, and family friend Maria Sausa, according to a Jan. 15 social media post announcing the venture.
Gia Giudice described the project as “a dream of my family’s for a long time.”
“I’m beyond excited to officially step into this next chapter ,” the Bravo spinoff series “Next Gen NYC star” wrote. “This venture means everything to me—not just as a business, but as a way to continue and honor my mom’s legacy of cooking, family, and bringing people together around the table ”
In her own Instagram post, the elder Guidice said she is “beyond honored” to be consulting for the restaurant. The Bravo personality has written several cookbooks based on her Italian-American heritage, and launched a haircare line and sparkling wine brand.
“We are excited to open in the town of Westwood and excited to share a great experience with the amazing community!” she added.
Dinner guests
In Westwood, Il Vero is taking over a space most recently occupied by Prohibition, local food blog Boozy Burbs noted.
It joins a diverse dining scene that includes two restaurants from James Beard Award-nominated chef Robbie Felice – Osteria Crescendo and Bar Mutz.
This isn’t the family’s first foray into the hospitality industry.
Teresa Guidice was previously involved with a now-closed Italian eatery in East Hanover run by sister Melissa Gorga and brother-in-law Joe Gorga.
Several other “Real Housewives” stars have also moved into the food and restaurant space. Kathy Wakile sold cannoli kits and dessert mixes, while Melissa Gorga’s sprinkle cookies recently hit the shelves of ShopRite supermarkets in New Jersey, The Local Girl reported.
Additionally, the Brownstone in Paterson is owned by the family of “Real Housewives” star Caroline Manzo. Sons Albie and Chris have also opened and closed a few restaurants over the past decade, including Little Town Social in Hoboken.
