Bad Bunny had an unforgettable night at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 1, taking home three prizes, including Album of the Year.
One hilarious moment led by host and comedian Trevor Noah addressed the elephant in the room that Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, was not performing.
During the skit, Noah tried badgering Bad Bunny into singing his hit song, “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS,” off of the album of the same name.
Why can’t Bad Bunny perform at Grammys?
According to his Super Bowl contract, Bad Bunny — along with other artists before him, who signed similar agreements — are not permitted to have any performances at other major events in the lead up to the Super Bowl.
The reveal of this obligation is surprising to many fans of the Latin artist, who also won Best Música Urbana Album and Best Global Music Performance, after a momentous 2025.
Bad Bunny released his most popular album thus far, “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS,” which generated 203,500 equivalent album units. Within 13 days of its release, “DtMF” reached over 1 billion streams on Spotify, the fastest album by a male artist to break that record.
He also launched a record-breaking world tour, selling over 2.6 million tickets.
After all of these achievements, the artist performing at the Grammys would have been a given, if he didn’t have to fulfill his contractual obligations to the NFL.
However, fans got the halftime show teaser they were looking for because Bad Bunny did give in to sing a few lines with Noah. Now, they can all be more excited for what’s to come on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 8.
