Lenape picked up six bonus point wins to eke out a 39-26 win over Cherry Hill West in Cherry Hill.
The win could be a vital one in the Lenape’s (11-3) quest to make the postseason. Lenape currently holds the eighth and final spot in the South, Group 5 power point standings. As of Monday afternoon, Lenape has 35.44 power points to ninth-place Eastern’s 35.22 points.
The Lions (11-11) also currently sits in the eighth place spot in the South, Group 4 power point standings. CHW has 33.11 points while ninth-place Hammonton has 30.78 points.
Cherry Hill West’s Praise Okereafor tied the dual 22-22 by earning a 21-8 major decision over Malachi Taylor-Williams at 190, but Jackson Wheeler gave Lenape back the lead with a first-period pin over Antonio Lomax. A forfeit at heavyweight by Quinton Richardson-Wright and Graysan Reynolds’ 17-1 tech fall win over Cristian Lomax at 106 clinched the win for Lenape.
Owen Boyle also recorded a pin for Lenape at 106. Aaron Smith edged out a 16-9 decision over Aidan Maldonado at 120 to give Lenape a 3-0 lead after the opening bout. Talon Shugar teched Brandon Farling 19-4 at 132 and Jaiden Savoy outlasted Noah Gibbs for a 9-7 decision win at 175.
Clayton Tyson recorded a pin for CHW at 165 while Jakob Ubarry picked up six points with a pin at 150. Caden Rossi recorded a 13-5 major over Eric LaGrotta at 113, Gabe Jones edged out a 6-5 decision over Reid Angermeier at 157 and Mason Mahan earned an 11-5 decision win at 138 over Jacob Graham.
