Aliyah Manley recorded 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead 13th-seeded J.P. Stevens to a 63-55 victory over 20th-seeded Highland Park in the Preliminary Round of the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament in Edison.
J.P. Stevens outscored Highland Park 21-10 in the second quarter to take a 28-21 halftime lead. The Hawks extended their lead in the third quarter, outscoring Highland Park 21-11. Highland Park made it interesting in the fourth quarter by outscoring J.P. Stevens 23-14 but were unable to make the comeback.
Aniya Maniar contributed 13 points for J.P Stevens. Ava Kohler led Highland Park (7-16) with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Thara Belton added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
J.P. Stevens (9-11) will visit fourth-seeded Colonia in the first round on Wednesday.
