A documentary about our Top 50 Restaurants list won the Audience Award for Documentary Short Film during the 2026 Gasparilla International Film Festival.
“Making Top 50” won the accolade during an awards ceremony on Sunday, March 8, at Centro Asturiano de Tampa in Tampa. Other winners of the Grand Jury, Audience Choice and Spotlight awards are featured here.
Independent filmmaker Chris Fasick asked the Tampa Bay Times for permission to follow senior food and dining critic Helen Freund in the lead-up to the publication of her 2025 list. Fasick followed Freund (and myself, as her editor) through our November event, where we revealed the top 10 restaurants.
