Jannik Sinner tasted success at the first ATP Masters 1000 event of the season at the BNP Paribas Open, where he lifted the trophy in Indian Wells. ATPTour.com looks at the movers of the week in the PIF ATP Rankings as of Monday 16 March.
No. 10 Daniil Medvedev, +1
Medvedev returned to the Top 10 for the first time since last July after reaching the final in Indian Wells. The 30-year-old did not drop a set en route to the title match and defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the semis before Sinner stopped him. The Italian now leads Medvedev 9-7 in the pair’s Lexus ATP Head2Head series, having won nine of their past 10 meetings.
No. 21 Learner Tien, +6 (Career High)
The 20-year-old became the youngest American man to reach the quarter-finals in Indian Wells since his coach Michael Chang in 1992. The lefty saved two match points in his fourth-round win against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina but lost to Sinner in the last eight.
No. 56 Ethan Quinn, +17 (Career High)
Like countryman Tien, Quinn has jumped to a career-high. The 22-year-old lifted the ATP Challenger trophy in Phoenix, beating Marcos Giron in three sets in the final. Earlier this season, Quinn reached the third round at the Australian Open.
No. 61 Mariano Navone +18
Navone has risen 18 spots after he triumphed at the ATP Challenger event in Cap Cana. The Argentine beat Alexander Blockx in the semi-finals and Mattia Bellucci in the title match.
