The basics:
- Clydz will relocate to HELIX H-1 with planned September opening
- Strand Market food hall expected to debut in spring/early summer
- Hospitality concepts will anchor dining, gathering spaces in HELIX innovation district
- Development led by DEVCO with DHS Hospitality Group as district nears phase one opening
New Brunswick‘s Health + Life Science Exchange continues to take shape with the addition of two major hospitality concepts at the HELIX H-1 building. The transformational innovation district moves closer to its first phase opening in the coming months.
New Brunswick Development Corp. (DEVCO) and DHS Hospitality Group announced March 30 the iconic Clydz cocktail destination will relocate to HELIX H-1. An opening is planned for September. Meanwhile, Strand Market – a new food hall and community hub – is slated to debut in the spring or early summer.
Together, the two concepts will anchor the district with dining. The additions will offer social and gathering spaces that complement HELIX’s research and innovation mission.
Clydz is currently located at 55 Paterson St. in New Brunswick. The pioneer in the national mixology movement has been a city fixture since 1997. The eatery will expand its concept at HELIX, offering with:
- Its signature martini and cocktail program
- Enhanced food menu with lunch and extended dinner service
- Private chef’s table
- Outdoor dining along the pedestrian-friendly Strand plaza
On the menu
Strand Market will serve as a central hub within the development. The market will offer a mix of food and beverage concepts including:
- Barista Cafe
- Taka Taka Salad and Bowls
- Today’s Special Sandwich Shop
- DeeDee’s Pizza
- Gallagher’s Irish Pub
It will also feature flexible seating, indoor-outdoor flow and collaborative spaces designed to support both casual gatherings and professional interaction.
“The HELIX is about collaboration – in the lab and the office but also at the coffee bar, the communal lunch table, at dinner, and at happy hour. Chef Jackie Mazza and Doug Schneider have been bringing people together in New Brunswick for a generation – they were the natural choice to lead the hospitality at the HELIX,” said DEVCO President Christopher Paladino.
New Brunswick native Mazza leads the culinary and beverage program for Clydz and will also curate the culinary offerings at Strand Market.
“We are thrilled to bring Clydz into this exciting new chapter at HELIX H-1, opening in early fall of 2026,” said Mazza. “This move allows us to create an even more immersive dining experience for our loyal patrons and newcomers alike — blending our creative cocktails and bold flavors with the energy of the HELIX.”

‘Where innovation meets community’
“Strand Market is more than a food destination—it’s a vibrant hub where innovation meets community,” said Doug Schneider, owner of DHS Hospitality Group, operator of Strand Market. “We’re excited to bring Chef Jackie Mazza’s vision to life, creating a space that supports the HELIX’s mission of collaboration while giving New Brunswick a place to connect, eat, and unwind.
“Strand Market @ the HELIX promises to become a cornerstone of New Brunswick’s evolving downtown, blending world-class food with the energy of one of the Northeast’s premier innovation ecosystems.”

New Brunswick Mayor Jim Cahill emphasized that beyond research and innovation, HELIX will establish a place where the community comes together.
“The addition of Clydz and Strand Market brings energy, hospitality, and gathering spaces that are essential to creating a vibrant, collaborative environment,” said Cahill. “Clydz has been part of New Brunswick’s fabric for nearly three decades, and Strand Market represents the next generation of dining and community space.
“Together, they will help make the HELIX not only a center for discovery, but a destination where people can connect, collaborate, and enjoy everything our city has to offer.”
