Wednesday, April 8 – John Coltrane’s Centennial Birthday to be Celebrated at McCarter Theatre Center and NJPAC. Joe Lovano learned about John Coltrane in the basement of his Cleveland home. “My dad played saxophone,” he said, “and he loved Coltrane. His record collection was full of Coltrane recordings from the earliest Bethlehem records, all the Prestige, into Atlantic, and, of course, the Impulse! period.”

Thursday, April 9 – Bassist Martin Wind Adds Piano to His Gravity Trio for Area Performances. German-born bassist and composer Martin Wind has built an extensive résumé with more than 20 albums as a leader or co-leader and performance credits with legends such as clarinetist Buddy DeFranco, guitarist Pat Metheny, alto saxophonist Phil Woods, harmonicist Toots Thielemans, and many others. He has regularly performed at some of the top jazz venues in the world. Upcoming performances include release performances for his newest record September (2026, Laika Records) with his Gravity Trio and special guest Glenn Zaleski on piano — April 9 at Smalls Jazz Club in New York; April 10 at the Puffin Cultural Forum in Teaneck, NJ; and at the Deer Head Inn in Delaware Water Gap, PA, April 11.

Friday, April 10 – Newton Theatre presents GRUNGEFEST: Tributes to Pearl Jam & Chris Cornell. Friday, April 10 – Westminster Conservatory Faculty Recital on April 10th to honor Galina Prilutskaya. (PRINCETON, NJ) — On Friday, April 10, 2026 at 7:30pm, Westminster Conservatory of Rider University will present a faculty recital to honor the memory of Galina Prilutskaya, a long-time member of the Conservatory’s piano faculty who died on October 11, 2025. The recital will take place in Hillman Performance Hall in the Marion Buckelew Cullen Music Center (101 Walnut Lane) in Princeton. The recital is open to the public free of charge.

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) — This spring, Arden Children’s Theatre invites families into a hilariously twisted world where classic fairy tales don’t go quite as expected in its next production of the 2025/26 season, The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales (The Stinky Cheese Man). Based on the beloved book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith, adapted by John Glore, the production brings the book’s fractured fairy tales to life for kids and adults alike. This event is open to the public and admission is free.
Thursday, April 9 – Stockton Arts and Culture Summit Expanding to Two Days and Two Locations. (ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) — Stockton University’s annual Arts and Culture Summit will expand to two days this year and will host events on the school’s Galloway and Atlantic City locations.

(PRINCETON, NJ) — Princeton University’s Fund for Irish Studies continues its 2025-26 series with a talk by Merlin Holland, the only grandson of famed writer Oscar Wilde, about his legendary grandfather on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 4:30pm in the James Stewart Film Theater at 185 Nassau Street in Princeton. Holland will draw from his extensive research, family history, and newly published book, After Oscar: The Legacy of a Scandal.

(PARAMUS, NJ) — Gallery Bergen, the visual arts presentation space of Bergen Community College, presents a new exhibition by one of its extraordinary faculty members, illustrator and motion graphics creative Graham Elliott. “OMG” will feature two tents erected inside the gallery to house secular shrines to lost keys, sketchbooks, projections, “wallbooks,” installations, and looped motion graphics and videos. Some of the pieces include collaborations with Graham’s former and current BCC students. The exhibit is on display from February 26 – April 10, 2026.

East Lynne Theater Company Presents The Premiere of “Art Titans: Masters Of A New Era–Sydnei SmithJordan: Pop Fusion And The Power Of Legacy”. (CAPE MAY, NJ) — The new East Lynne Theater Company continues to recreate itself and expand boundaries by hosting the world premiere of the ongoing documentary series “Art Titans: Masters of a New Era,” which now focuses on world-renown, Cape May artist Sydnei SmithJordan in “Pop Fusion and the Power of Legacy.” There are two opportunities to see the documentary and view SmithJordan’s work at the Clemans Theater for the Arts at the Allen AME Church: red-carpet premiere on Saturday, April 11 at 7:00pm and Sunday, April 12 at 2:00pm.
RVCC presents Second Part of Annual Student Art Exhibition. (BRANCHBURG, NJ) — Raritan Valley Community College’s Arts & Design department is presenting the annual RVCC Student Art Exhibition in two installments again this year. Part II of the exhibition will be on display from April 8-May 6, 2026 in the Art Gallery at the College’s Branchburg campus.
Riverside Gallery presents Bong Jung Kim: Between Pulse and Horizon. (HACKENSACK, NJ) — Riverside Gallery presents a solo exhibition, Between Pulse and Horizon, featuring assemblages and sculptural paintings of Bong Jung Kim. The exhibition runs from April 10-27, 2026. Kim’s recent body of work juxtaposes traditional painting with found objects in the fashion of a techno abstract expressionism with mechanical, electronic, and organically painted parts.
