It’s always something. If it’s not one thing, it’s another.
Gilda Radner’s memorable Roseanne Roseannadanna “Saturday Night Live” character could not have known that her catchphrase would one day describe the nation’s health care industry. But it is certainly apt, especially here in the Garden State.
Either it’s the COVID-19 pandemic causing major disruptions in how hospitals and other providers deliver care, or it’s the federal government unleashing a firehose of policy changes and deep cuts to subsidies and other funding. It’s enough to prompt a strongly worded letter from Mr. Richard Feder of Fort Lee, New Jersey.
Thankfully, this state benefits from an exceedingly skilled cohort of health care professionals, many of whom are profiled below. Our honorees have demonstrated their abilities and energy in manifold ways. They are adopting new technologies, employing updated business models, meeting patients where they are, working to prevent health problems — rather than wait to treat them, and educating the next generation of caregivers.
New Jerseyans are rightly proud of the state’s reputation for health care excellence; a reputation built and maintained by the individuals recognized in the NJBIZ Power List. Remember that the next time you read or hear about a major new development that seems worrisome. And that will happen. After all, it’s always something.
And by all means let us know what you think about what’s happening around New Jersey and the choices represented in this list. All of the honorees are listed alphabetically.

Power List Methodology
The power lists are compiled by the NJBIZ editorial staff based on our reporting throughout the past year with input from experts in a variety of fields and recommendations from our readers. The staff looks for people who have gained public attention – and perhaps acclaim – for their professional accomplishments and public service. Each list identifies individuals who, through their efforts, are helping to make New Jersey a better place to live, work and do business. Honorees are not necessarily better at their jobs than others in their profession, but they have contributed meaningfully to the advancement of the public interest through their work and/or community service.
