Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla’s attendance is unknown, as the wedding coincides with the Epsom Derby, where Charles will present a trophy, palace officials have confirmed.
Prince Harry, Phillips’s cousin, is also not expected to make the trip to the UK for the wedding. Phillips was close to William and Harry when they were growing up and was cited as a peacemaker between the two brothers when they fell out after Harry and Meghan’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021.
“It’s the first royal wedding since Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank, and prior to that Harry and Meghan’s nuptials, but it’s going to be on a much smaller scale to both of those very grand Windsor affairs,” Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty Magazine, told Vanity Fair.
“I think this is going to feel and look a lot more like an intimate family wedding than a royal wedding. Don’t forget it’s [the] second time round for Peter and Harriet, and I think the fact that the reception is at Princess Anne’s home signals that this will be low-key.”
Phillips is the son of Princess Anne and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips. He was also the first grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
“Princess Anne hates any fuss and she’s not extravagant, so think wildflowers rather than expensive designer floral bouquets, and a seasonal spread of food rather than anything very fancy,” added Seward. “Anne is apparently very fond of Harriet and thinks she’s a perfect match for Peter.”
A spokesman for Phillips has described the wedding as a “private ceremony.”
Phillips’s daughters—Savannah, 15, and Isla, 14, from his first marriage to Autumn Kelly—will be there with their mother, and Sperling’s teenage daughter will also attend. Phillips and Kelly finalized their divorce in 2021, after 13 years of marriage.
