Comedian Amy Schumer has seemingly found a buyer for her “dream” New Orleans home, just one week after listing the sprawling dwelling—as her Brooklyn townhouse remains on the market.
The actress, 43, listed the two-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom property—which sprawls across 1,967 square feet—after owning it for just four years.
Schumer has previously gushed about her New Orleans home, which is located in the French Quarter, just steps from Bourbon Street.
Now, Realtor.com® can exclusively reveal that the star’s home has been taken off the market—although it is unclear whether she has found a buyer, or opted to hold onto her “dramatic” dwelling after all.
According to property records, the home went off the market on Nov. 7, just over a week after it was first listed on Oct. 26.
Realtor.com® has contacted Schumer’s listing agent, Cat Wilkinson of French Quarter Realty, for comment.
The listing noted that the home perfectly blends “timeless architecture and modern luxury,” noting that this is a “rare opportunity” for potential buyers.
“The home features a new slate roof, restored original details, and high-end, contemporary finishes throughout,” the listing said.
Upon entering the home, guests are greeted with 13-foot ceilings and large windows that allow natural light to flood into the property.
Schumer’s bright personality is ever present throughout the home and can be seen in the property’s interior touches such as the colored walls, vibrant furnishings, and more.
The chef’s kitchen is all wood and “combines classic charm with modern functionality, offering generous storage, premium appliances, and a seamless flow for entertaining.”
The room also features light wooden cabinets and pots and pans hanging from the ceiling.
Schumer formerly showed off the home in a video for Homeworthy, a media company founded by three-time Emmy-winning TV producer Alison Kenworthy.
While Schumer has primarily been based in New York City, where she lives with husband Chris Fischer and their 5-year-old son, Gene, she explained that she and her spouse made the decision to invest in a New Orleans home after she “fell in love” with the city in 2016.
“Over the years, going on the road, doing stand-up, and then eventually being married and pregnant, we were spending more and more time here. And so in 2021, we bought this beautiful place and renovated it and made it into our dream, dramatic New Orleans hang,” she explained.
Schumer, who recently put her Brooklyn townhouse on the market for $14 million after choosing to move back to Manhattan for the sake of an easier life, branded her colorful NOLA dwelling as her “dream come true” as she invited cameras into its vibrant living areas.
The comedian gushed with pride as she showcased her library, which she joked is home to “100 plays” and features a sliding ladder, one of her favorite aspects of the space.
“Having a sliding ladder in the library feels like I’ve made it,” she said with a laugh.
Big windows fill the room with natural light and highlight the cozy pink hue of the walls.
The actress waxed lyrical about the wood furnishings and the grand piano in the dining room, which she said has brought plenty of musicians to the home.
Speaking about the intricate decor in her home, Schumer said, “People would be pretty surprised by how much pride and effort and specificity I put into my home.”
She doesn’t live “like a hoarder [or] under a lot of neon bar signs,” she explained. “I actually like being around beauty.”
Schumer exuded joy as she took viewers into her hallway bathroom, which boasts one-of-a-kind wall art and some quirky chandeliers with tiny cat statues.
With so many “pretty essential” details in the bathroom, she urged viewers to not miss the floral walls, which were also decorated in broken pieces of tiles.
Another part of the home, the “Kinda Pregnant” star can’t get enough of is their “pink room,” which is complete with a “thrifted” bar as well as furniture from architect and designer India Mahdavi.
The actress said she and Fischer love to “have a drink” in the room, which is also adorned in the colorful beads New Orleans is known for, and that their drink of choice is a margarita.
“We drink a lot of margaritas in our home [and] late-night red wine, of course,” she added.
She then headed into a room she branded “couch couch” because it’s the family’s favorite place to “lay around” and boasts two yellow sofas.
“Everything you see is something that Chris and I fell in love with. We have a similar sensibility,” she said.
However, there is one thing in their lounging room that they don’t quite agree on.
“He really likes this yellow couch and I don’t. And I don’t really like these pillows, but that’s where you compromise, right? That’s marriage,” she joked.
Moving to the backyard, there is a heated pool surrounded by tiles and lush greenery. A porch swing overlooks the shimmering water.
“Everything has meaning to us. It’s a home filled with so much love, and our son loves it,” the actress said at the end of the video.
The dwelling was one of many in Schumer and Fischer’s growing property portfolio, which made headlines in 2016 when the actress purchased her childhood farm, which her family lost when they went bankrupt.
“We lost the farm when we lost everything else,” the comedian said in an Instagram post at the time.
After she found fame with comedy, the 43-year-old’s career went from strength to strength, helping her to build up an estimated fortune of $45 million, much of which she has spent investing in properties.
In November, the actress revealed that one of her dwellings now boasts a luxurious custom-built treehouse in the backyard and is estimated to have cost $200,000.
Proudly unveiling the structure on Instagram, Schumer revealed that she worked with designer Pete Nelson, owner of Nelson Treehouse, a company that creates all manner of dwellings for a wide range of clients.
The actress’ treehouse features impressive amenities, including a large staircase and an expansive railed deck, which has been outfitted with a table and chairs. Inside there is a large, L-shaped couch for maximum comfort.
The indoor space also features a colorful rug, beautiful wood-lined walls, and a large ladder to a spacious loft. The toys scattered about the treehouse suggest that it has been used regularly by Gene.
As for the location of Schumer’s treehouse, it’s unlikely that she could fit it in the backyard of her Brooklyn, NY, townhouse. A likelier spot would be the grounds of her home in Martha’s Vineyard, where her husband is from.
Schumer spent much of the COVID-19 pandemic in the upscale Massachusetts retreat, having left New York temporarily in 2020 amid lockdowns and increasing regulations.
Two years later, she put her Upper West Side penthouse on the market for $15 million, opting instead to relocate to a home in Brooklyn alongside Fischer and their son. She purchased that place in July 2022 for $12.5 million—$1.5 million over the asking price.
Her Brooklyn brownstone also comes with a splash of fame, having been featured in the hit 1987 movie “Moonstruck.”
While the five-bedroom, four-bathroom property has been renovated since then, much of the home’s 1829 history remains. The grand-scale townhouse offers high ceilings, restored crown molding, hand-carved and milled trim, and millwork.
However, Schumer recently put that dwelling on the market, revealing to the Wall Street Journal that she and her husband wanted to move somewhere that was closer to their son’s Manhattan school.
“He got into a good school, and we’re too lazy to commute 45 minutes to take our son to school every day,” she said.
