Bergen Tech went into Saturday morning winners of six straight regular season matches.
One week removed from the boys program notching a Bergen County Tournament overall victory, the girls team followed up the performance with a tournament win of its own in Demarest.
Bergen Tech had 37 wins and 191 touches scored to earn the overall title, as Fair Lawn finished in second place, with Teaneck rounding out the top three.
“The team worked really hard and they are just so motivated,” Bergen Tech head coach Gaspar Lesznik said. “They are all cheering each other on, camaraderie makes a huge difference and with the results we have seen, that is evident.”
Holy Angels won the team sabre title, headlined by Cecelia Alfonso-Vallego, Katie Jeong, and Sophia Campise. Teaneck finished second in the weapon, and Fair Lawn earned third place.
In foil, the standout trio of Bryella Nicudemus, Carolina Lazar, and Sadie Hand took home the team title for Fair Lawn. Bergen Tech earned second place, and Ramapo finished in third place.
The overall winner, Bergen Tech, took home the epee title with a squad that featured Suhjee Park, Julianna Marton, and senior leader Bomie Jun.
“Our team is incredible, we have two new fencers on varsity, both of which have a terrific mindset,” Jun said. “Even if they are down, they always fight back and continue to fence, which is amazing.”
Ramapo finished in second place in the weapon, followed by Holy Angels who rounded out the top three.
The epee squad for Bergen Tech showed out on Saturday, but the team title isn’t the only success the weapon has built upon this season.
The Knights have a record of 83-16 in epee thus far, highlighted by Jun, who has a 28-3 record, along with Julianna Marton who is 24-2 across regular season bouts. Sophomore Suhjee Park has made a huge second year leap, totaling a 21-2 record.
Bergen Tech is currently slotted in at No. 7 in the North classification Power Points race, with others in contention as well such as Fair Lawn, Teaneck, Ramapo, Holy Angels, and Indian Hills just inside the Top 16 as well entering the cutoff point.
