A New York man was sentenced Wednesday to decades in prison for fatally shooting a 42-year-old man in Monmouth County more than a year ago.
Gaetano S. Scannavino, 26, whose last known address was in Brooklyn, pleaded guilty in December to first-degree aggravated manslaughter in the death of Anthony Hill of Eatontown.
Hill was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds about 7:15 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2024, near a dumpster in a parking lot in the 200 block of Route 36 in Hazlet.
Investigators identified Scannavino as the shooter and police arrested him five days later in Brooklyn.
Scannavino was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison.
He must serve 85% of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.
Scannavino’s attorney was not immediately available to comment.
