Sean Burke scored a game-high 23 points to lead Mainland to a convincing 59-36 victory over Atlantic Tech in boys basketball action in Linwood.
Burke hit five two-pointers and two 3-pointers while converting 7-of-8 free throws for Mainland (9-14). Colt Russo added 14 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
The game was close after the first quarter with Atlantic Tech holding a slim 10-9 lead. Mainland took control in the second quarter, outscoring the RedHawks 17-9 to take a 26-19 lead into halftime.
John Carr led Atlantic Tech (1-22) with 13 points, including five two-pointers and one 3-pointer. James Barkalow contributed seven points for the RedHawks.
Mainland’s strong performance at the free throw line was a key factor in the win, as the Mustangs converted 15 of 20 attempts compared to Atlantic Tech’s 5 of 8.
