Choose New Jersey has appointed Amy Herbold as its next president and CEO, effective April 16.
She will succeed Wesley Mathews, who led the organization from 2022–2025. Chief Administrative Officer Jen Lendhardt has served as interim head since Mathews’ exit.
Herbold currently serves as senior vice president of corporate and regulatory affairs at Triple Five Group. The company’s portfolio includes the American Dream megamall in East Rutherford.
She brings experience across government as well as the private sector. Herbold’s background includes advancing economic development projects and supporting large-scale developments, as well as driving job creation and tourism.
Board Chair Ralph LaRossa said Herbold’s cross-sector experience makes her well-positioned to lead the organization and partner with Gov. Mikie Sherrill on economic priorities.
“With Amy at the helm, we are confident that Choose New Jersey will continue to attract impactful investments and jobs that move New Jersey’s economy forward,” he said LaRossa also serves as chair, president and CEO of PSEG. “With experience in both the public and private sectors, she is well-positioned to attract and retain businesses to New Jersey. The board of directors looks forward to partnering with her to advance Gov. Sherrill’s economic priorities.”
A proven record
Sherrill said her administration is committed to fostering an environment where innovation can flourish and where New Jerseyans can thrive. She applauded Herbold’s appointment.

“Amy has a proven track record of advancing the growth of one of our state’s premier economic and tourist hubs,” said Sherrill. “I am confident that her leadership will drive meaningful and substantial investments in New Jersey. I look forward to working with Choose New Jersey to attract investment, strengthen key industries, and create jobs across New Jersey.”
Herbold said she is “honored to lead Choose New Jersey at such a pivotal moment.” She thanked the board for its confidence.
“New Jersey has all the assets to compete – and win – on a global stage: talent, location, infrastructure and innovation,” said Herbold. “I look forward to working with Gov. Mikie Sherrill and our partners across business and government to drive investment, create jobs, and tell New Jersey’s story to the world, benefitting our local communities statewide.”
