SHOW AND TELL: Harrods is paying tribute to the House of Schiaparelli with a series of windows, in-store displays and the promotion of a new book, “Anglomaniac,” which details the brand’s influence on the work of more than 50 British artists.
The windows and displays are inspired by the keyhole, one of the many house symbols. Sculptural, gold keyhole-shaped screens offer viewers a look at images from “Anglomaniac,” which is published by Skira and edited by writer, curator and creative director Thierry-Maxime Loriot.
The book, which is on display at Harrods, examines Schiaparelli‘s work with Cecil Beaton and Norman Parkinson and features previously unpublished images and artworks.
There are interviews with Nick Knight, Stephen Jones, Pat McGrath, Guido Palau and Nadia Lee Cohen and a look at how current Schiaparelli creative director Daniel Roseberry’s couture designs have influenced contemporary artists and photographers.
There are additional contributions from writer and curator Robin Muir and Trino Verkade, director of the Sarabande Foundation.

The Harrods display is just a few minutes’ walk away from the Victoria & Albert Museum, where the exhibition “Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art” is on until Nov. 8.
It is the U.K.’s first exhibition dedicated to the house, and its founder Elsa Schiaparelli. It examines how she was able to change the fashion paradigm in the shell-shocked, straitened years following World War I and break up the cozy relationship between fashion and beauty.
There are more than 400 objects on display in the show at the V&A’s Sainsbury Gallery, including 100 fashion ensembles and 50 artworks — by Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Man Ray and Eileen Agar. There are also accessories, jewelry, paintings, photographs, furniture, perfumes and archive material.
What is most impressive about the exhibition is how wearable and modern Schiaparelli’s designs remain, and how they’ve influenced Roseberry’s couture creations, which are also featured in the show.
