Harry Kane scored his 36th goal of the season but Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich let a second-half lead slip to draw 2-2 at Hamburg.
Fábio Vieira put Hamburg in front from the penalty spot then Kane levelled before half-time. The substitute Luis Díaz put the visitors ahead within a minute of the restart, but Luka Vuskovic kept up his good scoring form to earn what could be a precious point for the struggling hosts.
Hamburg were awarded their penalty for a foul by Joshua Kimmich on Nicolai Remberg just after the half hour. Bayern were level before the break as Kane scored his 36th goal of the campaign in all competitions, and his 22nd in 20 Bundesliga appearances.
Kimmich, who had earlier hit the bar, could not turn in Serge Gnabry’s cross from the left, but the England striker finished from close range to make it 1-1. Díaz came on at half-time and within 43 seconds gave Bayern the lead. Gnabry and Michael Olise played a one-two before the latter slipped a pass for Díaz to score.
Hamburg kept battling and were rewarded when Vuskovic headed in from close range via William Mikelbrencis’s cross. Bayern hit the woodwork again when Jonathan Tah’s header came back off the crossbar, and at the other end Alphonso Davies cleared off the line to deny Hamburg a winner.
Bayern have 51 points from 20 games, nine ahead of Borussia Dortmund in second who have a game in hand. Dortmund can close the gap on Sunday as they host bottom club Heidenheim. Hamburg climbed to 13th with 19 points from 19 games.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s winless run stretched to eight games across all competitions on Saturday after a 3-1 loss at home to Bayer Leverkusen. The Spanish coach Albert Riera takes over on Monday and the size of his task is clear – Eintracht have now conceded 45 goals, the most in the division.
Arthur struck in the 26th minute for Leverkusen, beating Kauã Santos at his near post after Álex Grimaldo set him up with his heel. Malik Tillman made it 2-0 with a fine low strike, before Robin Koch pulled one back for Frankfurt. Ellyes Skhiri was then sent off for the hosts, before Aleix García got Leverkusen’s third with a late breakaway.
Mainz continued their resurgence as they came from behind to win 2-1 in Leipzig. Conrad Harder headed the hosts in front but Mainz were level before the break through Nadiem Amiri’s penalty and Silas’ solo run and finish soon after the restart sealed victory.
Hoffenheim moved six points clear of Leipzig in third as they defeated Union Berlin 3-1, with Andrej Kramaric on target twice. Augsburg fought back to earn a 2-1 win over St Pauli, and struggling Werder Bremen scored late to salvage a 1-1 draw at home with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
In Spain, Barcelona extended their lead at the top of La Liga to four points with a 3-1 victory over mid-table Elche. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the sixth minute from Dani Olmo’s through ball, but Álvaro Rodríguez equalised for Elche in an end-to-end first half.
Ferran Torres then restored the visitors’ lead before half-time, finishing from Frenkie de Jong’s cutback. Lamine Yamal then turned provider, crossing low for substitute Marcus Rashford to score. Barça’s 15th win in their last 16 games in all competitions puts pressure on Real Madrid, who host Rayo Vallecano tomorrow.
Alexander Sørloth was taken to hospital with a head injury as third-placed Atlético Madrid drew 0-0 at lowly Levante. The Norway striker suffered a clash of heads with Matías Moreno in the first half. After undergoing tests, Sørloth will return to Madrid but remains under observation, according to a club statement.
Villarreal stay in fourth place after a 2-2 draw with Osasuna, Gérard Moreno scoring twice for the visitors. Bottom club Oviedo boosted their slim hopes of beating the drop with a 1-0 home win over Girona, Ilyas Chaira scoring the only goal.
Napoli secured a 2-1 home win over struggling Fiorentina but suffered another injury problem when Giovanni Di Lorenzo was forced off. Antonio Conte’s side are third on 46 points, six behind the leaders, Inter, who visit Cremonese on Sunday.
Antonio Vergara broke the deadlock in the 11th minute, racing clear of the Fiorentina defence before calmly slotting a low finish into the corner. Miguel Gutiérrez doubled Napoli’s lead four minutes after the restart with a curling shot from an acute angle.
Fiorentina pulled one back through Manor Solomon but could not find an equaliser. The two sides below them in the table both lost, though, with Verona falling to a 4-0 defeat at Cagliari. Pisa lost 3-1 at home to Sassuolo, a result that led to manager Alberto Gilardino’s departure on Saturday evening.
In Ligue 1, Marseille suffered a late collapse at Paris FC, blowing a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with the pain still fresh from their midweek Champions League exit. Mason Greenwood scored a first-half penalty for his 13th goal of the season, then set up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to double Marseille’s lead early in the second half.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side came unstuck again as Jonathan Ikoné’s header brought Paris FC back into the game, before Ilan Kebbal levelled with an injury-time spot-kick. Elsewhere, Ansu Fati was on target as Monaco ended their poor recent run of form with a 4-0 home victory over Rennes.
