A federal grand jury in Rhode Island indicted two former executives of pain management device company Zynex Medical with multiple counts of health care fraud this week.
The indictment alleges that from 2017 through 2025, former Chief Executive Officer Thomas Sandgaard and Chief Operating Officer Anna Lucsok fraudulently secured millions of dollars from government and commercial insurers, as well as patients. The jury also alleged that the two defrauded investors by hiding that the company’s revenues were obtained via fraud.
“This case represents a troubling abuse of patients seeking care, as well as the federal healthcare benefit system,” said United States Attorney Charles Calenda in a statement.
