Christopher Lloyd, Carol Kane and Cheri Oteri walk into a bar.
Specifically “Happy’s Place,” as the three have joined the pub-set NBC comedy series as Season 2 guest stars. The sitcom returns on Nov. 7.
Lloyd will play Clive, a man who loses his phone at Happy’s Place and returns to retrieve it. Kane plays Clive’s wife Theresa, a free-spirited woman in pursuit of justice and excitement. Oteri is Monica, a no-nonsense health inspector assigned to Happy’s Place. She’s a stickler who takes her job seriously and refuses to cut corners when it comes to cleanliness.
Reba McEntire anchors “Happy’s Place” as Bobbie, a woman who inherits her father’s tavern and is surprised to meet her new business partner Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), a 20-something half-sister she never knew she had. “In Season 2, Happy’s Place reopens its doors, and a long-buried secret comes to light that will test loyalties and shake things up inside the tavern,” reads the logline. “Through it all, Bobbie must remind everyone that family isn’t what you’re born into, but it’s the people that stand beside you, even in the workplace.
Alongside McEntire and Escobedo, “Happy’s Place” stars Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and Rex Linn. Writer Kevin Abbott executive produces with McEntire, Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Matt Berry and Pamela Fryman. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. The series is created by Kevin Abbott and Julie Abbott.
Lloyd is best known for the “Back to the Future” trilogy, as well as his roles in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Taxi.” He recently scored his fourth Emmy nomination for a guest role in “Hacks,” and he can be seen in Season 2 of “Wednesday” and “Nobody 2.” He’s repped by Gersh and Jacob Greenspan.
Kane also hails from “Taxi” and is an Oscar nominee for her performance in “Hester Street.” She is a two-time Emmy winner whose credits also include “Chicago Hope,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and “Hunters,” as well as voice work in “Big Mouth” and “The Simpsons.” Kane is repped by Liebman Entertainment and Stewart Talent.
Oteri is a “Saturday Night Live” veteran who recurred on Hulu’s “Mid Century Modern” and HBO Max’s “And Just Like That.” Her credits also include “Scary Movie,” “Inspector Gadget,” “Liar Liar” and “Dumb and Dumberer.” Oteri is repped by Brave Artists Management and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.
