Hillsborough deputies have arrested a suspect in connection to a hit-and-run crash in Keysville Saturday that killed a motorcyclist and critically injured his passenger.
Edwin Rapalo-Lorenzo, 27, was driving a Ford Explorer east on Old Hopewell Road near Henry George Road about 7:45 p.m. when he crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a motorcyclist, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Rapalo-Lorenzo left the area on foot before deputies arrived.
Giovany Negron Talavera, 37, died at the scene of the crash. A woman riding with him on the motorcycle was critically injured and airlifted to Tampa General Hospital. The sheriff’s office has not released her name.
The sheriff’s office used aviation and K-9 units to find Rapalo-Lorenzo and arrest him on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and serious injury and driving without a valid license. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital to be treated for injuries from the crash.
No other information has been released.
