Hugo Nys, with help from his partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin, kept alive hopes of a home doubles champion for the second consecutive year on Friday at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.
The Monegasque-French pair upset third seeds Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten 6-3, 6-4 to book its semi-final spot at the clay ATP Masters 1000 event. Nys and Roger-Vasselin converted four of seven break points they earned, according to Infosys ATP Stats, to earn a commanding 74-minute victory.
The 35-year-old Nys is bidding to emulate his countryman and 2025 champion Romain Arneodo, whom Nys and Roger-Vasselin knocked out of this year’s tournament in the second round, by becoming a home doubles champion in Monte-Carlo. Awaiting Nys and Roger-Vasselin in the last four will be sixth seeds Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz, who overcame second seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool 6-4, 7-6(1).
In the top half of the draw, fifth seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic edged fourth seeds Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski 6-4, 3-6, 11-9. The Salvadoran-Croatian duo will take on Guido Andreozzi and Arneodo’s 2025 title-winning partner Manuel Guinard for a final spot after the eighth-seeded Andreozzi and Guinard sank top seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
Heliovaara/Patten return to winning ways, defeat Berrettini/Vavassori in Monte-Carlo
Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten got back to winning ways on Thursday at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, where they ended the run of Matteo Berrettini and Andrea Vavassori 6-3, 7-6(1).
After falling to Simone Bolelli and Vavassori in the Miami final, Heliovaara and Patten returned to action with a clinical victory to reach the quarter-finals at the clay-court ATP Masters 1000 event. The third seeds, who are now 18-2 in 2026, will next meet home favourite Hugo Nys and his partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the last eight.

Arevalo/Pavic book Monte-Carlo QF spot, Bergs/Sinner withdraw
Four former No. 1 players in the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings took to Court 9 at the Monte-Carlo Country Club on Wednesday afternoon, when Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic emerged as the winners in a heavyweight second-round clash at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.
Arevalo and Pavic overcame Austin Krajicek and Nikola Mektic 6-4, 7-6(5) to seal their quarter-final spot at the clay ATP Masters 1000 event in Monaco. The fifth seeds dug particularly deep in the latter half of the match, when they fended off the only break point of the second set in the second game before converting their second match point in a hard-fought tie-break.

In a big match for local fans, home favourite Hugo Nys helped end his fellow Monegasque Romain Arneodo’s Monte-Carlo title reign. Nys and Edouard Roger-Vasselin defeated 2025 champion Arneodo and Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-4, 6-7(3), 10-4.
Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard (Arneodo’s title-winning partner from a year ago) also reached the quarter-finals on Wednesday after Zizou Bergs and Jannik Sinner withdrew from their scheduled match due to Sinner suffering from a blister. In the final first-round match to be played, Austrian pair Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler downed French duo Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul 6-4, 7-5.
