MANILA, Philippines — Actress Janine Gutierrez honored her late grandmother Pilita Corrales after being named the “Sexiest Woman Alive” by Esquire Philippines magazine.
Janine is the first woman in seven years recognized by the outlet, who last gave the title to Catriona Gray mere months after she won Miss Universe 2018.
In an intimate meeting with the media including Philstar.com, Janine remebered her paternal grandmother Pilita, whose first death anniversary is coming up next month.
“Mamita would have loved it,” Janine said of Pilita, sharing that the latter was the first person to call her a “knockout.”
The stunning actress revealed that she would later learn that “knockout” was another word for “sexy.”
Janine also fondly shared memories of Pilita being sexy in her own way, noting how “Asia’s Queen of Songs” would take off skirts during concerts to reveal a shorter skirt underneath.
Apart from her mamita, Janine is certain that the other person who is proud of her “Sexiest Woman Alive” photoshoot is her partner and fellow actor Jericho Rosales.
Janine said Jericho was happy with the final three layouts and even reposted one of them, quipping it was the most wholesome one of the bunch.
“I’m so happy to have someone who is so supportive, sweet, and affectionate sa lahat ng mga ginagawa ko especially with work,” Janine said.
The actress ended by sharing she values Jericho’s opinions when it comes to creativity and reiterated, “Happy ako kasi nagagandahan siya.”
