Lee Byung-Hun, Han Ji-Min, and Lee Hee-Jun are cast in Disney+ drama series “The Koreans.” Drama series is based on U.S. series “The Americans,” but reinterpreted for a Korean setting. The screenplay is written by Park Eun-Kyo (“Made in Korea“) and directed by Ahn Gil-Ho (“The Glory“). In “The Koreans,” Lee Byung-Hun and Han Ji-Min will play a married a couple in Seoul. They are actually North Korean spies. Lee Hee-Jun will play Cha Ki-Seok, He is a former homicide detective, who now works in counter-espionage. He moves next door to the married spy couple.
“The Koreans” will be available to stream sometime in 2027.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: In 1990, within a middle-class apartment complex in Seoul, Kim Myeong-Jun (Lee Byung-Hun) hides his identity as an elite North Korean spy. He has been living in South Korea for more than 10 years. He lives with his wife Yun Hwa-Kyeong (Han Ji-Min). She is also a North Korean spy. They have settled in South Korea as an exquisitely disguised married couple. Meanwhile, Detective Cha Ki-Seok (Lee Hee-Jun), who is a former homicide detective, but now works in the counter-espionage investigation division, moves in next door to Kim Myeong-Jun and Yun Hwa-Kyeong.
