Bergen Tech, No. 8 in the NJ.com Top 20, secured its third consecutive sectional title when it swept West in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 final Saturday at Bowler City in Hackensack.
The Knights (19-4) dominated both games, posting a pinfall of 2,206 in the best-of-three format to outpace West Orange’s 1,815 by 391 pins.
Liam Zamora led Bergen Tech with a high set of 488, including a high game of 266 in the first game, and his performance gave him a match average of 244.
Teammate Collin Zens added 461 pins with a high game of 258, while Sebastian Bray contributed 438 pins, highlighted by a 256 first game.
Evan Chin rolled 431 pins for the Knights, and John Presley James-Vickery added 388. Bergen Tech’s team totals of 1,177 in the first game and 1,029 in the second game proved too much for West Orange to overcome.
Max Stevenson paced West Orange with a high set of 458 and a match average of 229. His 233 first game was the Mountaineers’ best individual performance.
Jay Stevenson contributed 349 pins, Alexander Kranz added 359, Gabriel Smith rolled 324 and Nina Alvarez finished with 325.
West Orange, which concluded its season at 14-5, managed team games of 956 and 859.
