With Newark‘s real estate market and community on full display during an industry event, the Newark Regional Business Partnership revealed its new Real Estate Council to the captive audience.
NRBP President and CEO Ferlanda Fox Nixon spoke at the 3rd Annual Newark Summit for Real Estate, Economic Development & Placemaking Feb. 9. She highlighted the sector’s role in the city and region — noting local challenges don’t pause when the summit ends. Nixon said the new Real Estate Council will help to shape the business partnership’s overall outlook and an annual real estate market forum will ensure it remains aligned with the growing city and scene.
“[W]e are creating a space for industry leaders to come together, exchange insights, and help guide high impact programming,” she explained. “We’re excited to engage and learn directly from this community as we continue to build programs that support thoughtful growth and neighborhood transformation.”

NRBP board member Frank Ferruggia, partner, McCarter & English LLP, and member Carissa Borraggine, Realtor and business broker, initiated formation of the Real Estate Council.
Ferruggia said the group builds on efforts already at work in the area. “The Newark business community and the Newark Regional Business Partnership have always been committed to the growth and development of our city and the greater region.” The council will now help facilitate the exchange of ideas, education and advocacy, he said.
All NRBP members whose work intersects with real estate, development, finance, design, construction or related fields may join.
The group is the latest from NRBP’s growing industry-based councils. The city’s premier chamber of commerce says the rollouts aim to deepen member engagement and foster collaboration. Other targeted areas and new councils include Transportation, Nonprofit, Entrepreneur and Women’s.
With more than 300 organizations comprising its membership, NRBP focuses on issues impacting economic growth and vitality in the Newark business community and the surrounding region.
