Less than a week out from the Middlesex Democratic convention in the 12th congressional district, East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen has picked up the support of Jill DeCaro, the chairwoman of the Old Bridge municipal Democratic committee.
DeCaro, a former Old Bridge councilwoman and mayoral candidate, said that Cohen has long supported Old Bridge residents both as a physician and as a next-door mayor.
“Brad’s commitment to our district is personal,” DeCaro wrote in a letter to Old Bridge county committeemembers. “He supported my candidacy for Mayor in 2023 because he understood the importance of regional collaboration. By speaking at my campaign events and engaging with our residents, he demonstrated that his vision extends beyond town lines. Bottom line: Brad has always showed up for Old Bridge, and I know he will continue to show up for us in Washington.”
Cohen heads into the March 11 convention as the most prominent Middlesex elected official in the race for the 12th district, where 17 Democrats are competing to succeed retiring Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing). He also has endorsements from four Middlesex state legislators: State Sens. Linda Greenstein (D-Plainsboro) and Patrick Diegnan (D-South Brunswick) and Assemblymen Sterley Stanley (D-East Brunswick) and Robert Karabinchak (D-Edison).
