MANILA, Philippines — Animation studio Pixar is gearing up the development of more sequels to several of its beloved movies.
The studio revealed to the Wall Street Journal that it was working on a third “Monsters Inc.” movie.
The original film from 2001 featuring the voices of John Goodman and Billy Crystal remains one of Pixar’s most beloved films.
“Monsters Inc.” was followed by a prequel in 2013 and the series “Monsters at Work” which ran for two seasons on Disney+.
No details about the director — Pete Doctor and Dan Scalon helmed the first two movies — or story were mentioned.

Pixar is currently preparing for the first weekend numbers of its latest release “Hoppers,” its fifth movie with an original concept in as many years.
Other planned original projects are next year’s “Gatto” about a cat thief in Venice and Pixar’s first-ever musical to be helmed by “Turning Red” director Domee Shi.
The studio is also pivoting from a streaming series to a movie the project “Ono Ghost Market,” inspired by “Asian myths about supernatural bazaars where the living and dead interact.”
Of course other sequels are in the pipeline for Pixar such as “Toy Story 5” coming out this July, a third “Incredibles” movies in 2028 helmed by “Elemental” director Peter Sohn, and a sequel to 2017’s “Coco” set for a 2029 release.
