Point Pleasant Boro overwhelmed visiting Delran, 50-25, in the NJSIAA/IBEW Local 102 Central Jersey, Group 2 semifinal round Monday, riding a dominant performance from its upper-weight wrestlers to advance to the sectional final.
The top-seeded Panthers (15-5) won five consecutive matches by fall to open the dual, building a commanding 30-0 lead.
Jake Clayton started the onslaught at 165 pounds with a pin of Nathan Marter, followed by falls from Talan Ronckovitz at 175, Aiden Willson at 190, Jack Scalabrini at 215 and Nico Cangiano at 285.
Fourth-seeded Delran (21-6) responded with back-to-back victories when Jeremy George earned a 4-2 decision over Greg Parani at 106 and Chase Dubuque recorded a pin at 113 to cut the deficit to 30-9.
Point Pleasant Boro answered decisively.
West Matta secured a fall at 120, Jaxin Corino dominated with a 15-0 technical fall at 126, and Chase Eckert added an 11-3 major decision at 132 to extend the lead to 45-9.
Shane Palena provided a bright spot for Delran with an 11-0 major decision over Jack Barger at 138, but Maxwell Puglisi clinched the victory for Point Pleasant Boro with a 16-0 technical fall at 144.
Delran closed the match with forfeits at 150 and 157, with Jackson Weller and Benjamin Hoffman collecting wins.
Point Pleasant Boro advances to face sixth-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven, which seeks a third straight title, on Wednesday in Point Pleasant.
The Panthers seek the third title in program history and first since 2018.
