Runner’s double-double powers Gateway over West Deptford - Boys basketball recap

Ben Runner had 12 points and 17 rebounds to lead Gateway to a 49-44 victory over West Deptford in an In-Season Tournament consolation game in Westville.

Gateway jumped out to a 19-10 lead after the first quarter and led 30-24 at halftime. West Deptford mounted a comeback in the middle quarters, outscoring Gateway 26-17 in the second and third quarters combined, but Gateway pulled away in the fourth.

Eddie Coryell added 10 points, 11 assists and four steals for Gateway. Ben Cook contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Evan Haase chipped in seven points and 10 rebounds.

Thomas Cross led West Deptford with 16 points, including two 3-pointers, in the loss.

Gateway improved to (14-12) with the win. West Deptford fell to 8-19.
