Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill will hold her Inaugural Ball on Tuesday, January 20, on the ice skating rink at American Dream in East Rutherford, with proceeds from the $350-per-person ticket price going to Mission to Deliver NJ, her non-profit issue advocacy organization.
Organizers expect about 2,000 attendees at the black tie event that will also celebrate Lt.-Gov. Dale Cadwell taking office. Food and entertainment will showcase the diversity of New Jersey’s communities, featuring dishes from all 21 counties. The Sherrill inauguration will serve both Taylor Ham and Pork Roll.
American Dream is one of the largest shopping malls in the nation. This will be the second gubernatorial inauguration in Bergen County.

Due to the pandemic, Gov. Phil Murphy opted not to hold a large, in-person inaugural ball after he was sworn in to a second term in 2022; his first inaugural ball was held in a heated tent on the field of MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
A severe snowstorm led to the cancellation of Gov. Chris Christie’s second inaugural ball on Ellis Island in 2014; his first in 2010 was at the Prudential Center in Newark and featured a Springsteen cover band. Gov. Jon Corzine’s 2006 inaugural ball was held at Princeton University, and Gov. James E. McGrevey’s was at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison in 2002.
