Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh channeled modern elegance in a hypnotic Zimmermann dress for the Jane Goodall Institute U.K.’s Reasons for Hope Gala in London on Monday night.
The British royal family member wore the hypnotic sheath dress from the Australian luxury fashion brand. Crafted in a soft purple tone with a paisley print, the maxidress merged modern ornate detailing with classic design cues.

The Duchess of Edinburgh’s dress was designed with a simple silhouette, featuring long sleeves, a cinched belted waist and a flowing maxiskirt for added elegance. The paisley motif, with playful variations of purple tones, incorporated the modern bent of the dress.
The asymmetry of the pattern helped execute the hypnotic style motif of the Zimmermann dress’ print, while the semi-sheer fabric also gave the dress an added contemporary element. The Duchess of Edinburgh added statement earrings and carried a clutch in a complementary tone to complete the look.
Zimmermann is among the British royal family members’ favorite designers. At the 2024 edition of Royal Ascot, Princess Beatrice wore a pink floral print dress from the Australian luxury fashion brand. Not dissimilar to the Duchess of Edinburgh’s Monday night gala look, Princess Beatrice’s dress incorporated intricate patterning and a feminine silhouette.

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh was among the high-profile attendees at Monday night’s event. The Reasons for Hope Gala, celebrating the late Dr. Jane Goodall’s legacy, was the first of its kind, honoring the longtime conservationist’s contributions.
During her life, Goodall used her conservationist advocacy in her partnerships with brands like Brilliant Earth, a maker of conflict-free diamonds and recycled metals. “If we want to save our planet, if we care at all about our children, future generations and life on planet Earth, this is the kind of direction we must take,” Goodall told WWD in September 2025.
