A Jersey City-based, woman-led premium organic tequila brand is hitting the scene.
Meximodo Tequila announced its launch in a Dec. 22 press release.The business offers certified-organic, additive-free tequila made from 100% Blue Weber agave.
The introduction establishes the label’s identity as well as serves as a foundation for a future product portfolio. Meximodo Tequila Blanco is considered the flagship product.
Mehak Abrol created Meximodo Tequila. The company strives to operate under a framework that emphasizes women leadership across ownership, production and brand development, the announcement said.
Additionally, Meximodo Tequila hopes to soon team up with woman-focused charities to give back locally.
In a statement, Abrol said, “Meximodo Tequila Blanco represents the beginning of the company’s work. The release reflects a commitment to intentional production as well as the involvement of women in leadership and decision-making roles throughout the process.”
Lightening in a bottle
The idea for the brand originated after Abrol stood beside her husband Saurabh Abrol to open trendy restaurant and bar Meximodo Cocina Mexicana & Tequila Bar. The brand currently has spots in Jersey City and Metuchen. Then she teamed up with fourth-generation master distiller Iliana Partida and graphic designer Tiffany Larson to develop this debut offering.
Meximodo offers a regionally inspired menu of traditional and contemporary Mexican cuisine. It also boasts a large library of tequilas, mescals and other agave spirits.
In July 2024, Guinness World Record designated the Metuchen location as the bar-restaurant with the most varieties of agave spirits commercially available in the world.
The Le Malt Hospitality-owned concept also expects to open next year in downtown Marlboro as well as at mixed-used development District 15Fifteen in Parsippany.
Meximodo Tequila Blanco 750 mL bottles are available for shipping or pickup at Meximodo in Jersey City or Metuchen. The spirit retails for $29.99. The company did not provide additional details on distribution timelines or market availability.
