RJ Annechini scored a season-high 20 points to lead Westwood to a 61-50 victory over Clifton in Washington.
Annechini’s performance was matched by Clifton’s Yandel Nina, who also tallied 20 points in the losing effort. Vin Ceritelli added 16 points for Westwood (12-7), while Joe Ceritelli contributed 12 points on four 3-pointers.
Westwood started strong, taking a 15-9 lead after the first quarter and maintaining a 28-25 advantage at halftime. Clifton (5-16) made a push in the third quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 11-9 to cut the deficit to just one point heading into the final period.
The Mustangs briefly took the lead early in the fourth quarter, overcoming what had been a 12-point deficit. However, Westwood responded with authority, exploding for 24 points in the final frame to pull away for the 11-point victory.
Aaden Nolan added 12 points for Clifton, including two 3-pointers.
Westwood hosts Mahwah at 7 p.m. on Feb. 10. Clifton hosts Passaic Tech at 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 10.
