I may not always make breakfast first thing in the morning, but breakfast food is almost always what I want for my first meal of the day. Sometimes that happens early, sometimes it’s a little later, but either way I’m usually reaching for the same kinds of things.
I definitely go through phases where I get hyper-fixated on a few options, especially oats, but for the most part, I like to mix it up. Some days I want eggs, some days it’s pancakes or waffles, and other days a smoothie or something prepped ahead and baked just makes more sense.

Tips For Making Breakfast Easier
- Get up 10 minutes earlier. Adjusting your morning schedule ever so slightly is an easy way to give you time in the kitchen for a quick breakfast.
- Start small. A good breakfast does not have to be a giant buffet! Ease into your breakfast routine with smaller portions, like protein shakes or fruit bowls. It will keep you satisfied without overwhelming you.
- Add protein to your breakfasts. Protein is important because it helps to keep you satisfied, and mentally alert. My favorite easy breakfast ideas that are rich in protein are eggs, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and nut butter.
- Break up your breakfast. This is great if your mornings are a bit of a hustle! You can sip a protein shake on the go or have your eggs first, then save your fruit for when you hit the office or after the school run!
- Make ahead breakfasts. Having breakfasts ready to grab in the morning makes life so much easier. When you have a little bit of extra time, meal prep some make ahead breakfasts so you’re set for success during the week.
How To Store Leftovers
- Cool it down. Make sure to cool any hot recipes to room temperature before storing.
- Label everything with the name and date. Keep track of all your leftovers so you know how long you have to enjoy them or toss them if needed.
- Use plastic containers or freezer bags. Keep your food fresh by storing food in airtight containers.
- Save or trash? If you have any perishable items (like dairy), make sure to store them in the fridge. If they have sat out longer than 4 hours, it’s probably best to throw it out.
