A mom’s heart briefly skipped a beat when she checked on her toddler during naptime and found his bed completely empty.
Hannah Fugleberg, currently stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, shared the moment she went to check in on her son in a clip on TikTok (@hannahbethf).
About an hour after putting Noah down for his nap, she went to check on him as usual and immediately noticed something was off. When she couldn’t immediately find him in his bed, she started to worry.
“I figured he was probably sleeping underneath [one] of the blankets, but when I lifted them up and he wasn’t there, I began to panic,” the 31-year-old told Newsweek.
Hannah’s first instinct was to check the closet, fearing Noah had climbed out of bed and wandered. When he wasn’t there either, the realization hit. “The only other place that he could be would be under the bed,” she added.
Sure enough, that’s exactly where he was—sound asleep, completely content. Seeing that he was safe and settled, she decided not to disturb him. “Once I checked under the bed and saw him sleeping, I figured it was just best to let him continue his nap considering he was safe,” Hannah said.
While toddlers are famous for falling asleep in odd places, this particular location surprised even a seasoned mom. Noah is Hannah’s third child, and she said she’s seen her fair share of creative sleep spots over the years.
“I’ve seen a lot of different sleeping locations, but I’ve never had a kiddo fall asleep underneath the bed, so that was a new one for me,” she said.
Hannah’s clip went viral on TikTok, amassing more than 5 million views. In the comments, users found the whole thing hilarious.
“Mine used to sleep in the shower, I asked him why and it said it feels like a waterfall,” one user laughed.
“My brother in law ONLY slept under his bed for a whole year,” another wrote. “It started [because] he thought ‘monsters’ were in the bed, and he could hide from them under the bed. Then it was just a habit.”
The video even caught the attention of a few well‑known brands, including EGGO waffles, Pampers and Play-Doh, which popped into the comments to join in on the fun.
The TikTok account for British children’s television show Peppa Pig jokingly wrote “a win is a win,” applauding any nap that actually happens.
Hannah said the online reaction had been comical. “The majority of comments express how other people’s children have also fallen asleep under the bed or how the commentator themselves used to sleep under the bed as a child,” she said.
