Fans of the perpetually popular Air Jordan 4 model have plenty to look forward to in the next calendar year.
Joining an already stacked lineup of upcoming Air Jordan 4s are two of the sneaker’s rarest colorways from the 2000s. Originally released in 2005, the Air Jordan 4’s “White Laser” and “Black Laser” colorways were instant fan favorites and have only become more desirable.
Both of the pairs reference original “White/Fire Red” and “Bred” (aka “Black Cement”) colorways of the shoe, updating them with minor material and color blocking updates. However, the defining feature of each style lies in their nicknames as the uppers of both pairs are laser-etched with an intricate all-over pattern combining various models and motifs of the Air Jordan legacy.

The laser print was the handiwork of longtime Nike designer Mark Smith, who popularized the then-cutting edge, tattoo-like aesthetic, which went on to be featured on various Air Jordan models. The patterns celebrated 20 years of Jordan Brand and were featured on the flagship Air Jordan 20, which was also released in ’05.
Jordan Brand has since revisited the laser theme on the Air Jordan 4, although the label has not yet reissued the White Laser and Black Laser colorways pictured here. In 2015, the brand celebrated three decades with a 30th Anniversary Laser look, which also appeared on Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 20 Retros. And again in 2019, a fourth Laser Black Gum Air Jordan 4 was added to the mix for the model’s 30th anniversary.
