Big business spent a staggering amount to shape N.J.’s laws and budget last year, new report shows

Lobbyists spent a record $110.5 million last year to influence state lawmakers and the governor’s office on how taxpayer money is spent and which new laws are passed that affect the state’s 9.5 million residents, according to an analysis released Monday.
