MANILA, Philippines — Beauty queen Michelle Dee’s legal representative finds it suspicious that her client is being charged anew amid a “favorable” theft complaint.
Last Wednesday, May 13, a former driver of actress Rhian Ramos filed complaints of slight illegal detention, unlawful arrest and physical injuries against her, Dee and another beauty queen, Samantha Panlilio.
The issue stems from an incident earlier this year where the said driver, going by the alias “Totoy”, claimed he was repeatedly assaulted by the three women.
The three denied the allegations, while another point of contention was whether the driver allegedly stole an “angpao” that contained sensitive photographs.
“Totoy” filed the new complaints before the Makati Prosecutor’s Office accompanied by Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption president Arsenio “Boy” Evangelista.
In a statement sent to “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” read out by the host, Michelle’s lawyer Maggie Abraham-Garduque found the timing of complaints being filed “suspicious”, citing “more pressing cases/controversy” being dealt with at the moment.
“Also, it is unfortunate that this is filed despite the favorable resolution of the Makati Prosecutor’s Office to the theft case of Michelle against ‘Totoy,'” said Abraham-Garduque.
According to the attorney, their camp received a resolution from the office last week indicting “Totoy” for the crime of theft and had formally filed the information charging him in Makati’s Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 127.
“We will file our counter affidavit showing that these cases are not only baseless but frivolous, with the sole intention to make it a vengeful suit against the theft case Michelle filed,” the statement ended.
