Republican Michael McGuire, a lawyer and former New York Police Department officer from Freehold, won his party’s primary Tuesday night in the race to represent the 3rd Congressional District.
McGuire, a former Marine and Naval reservist, was the latest military veteran to win at the ballot box. He will challenge Rep. Herb Conaway (D) in November.
Conaway, a physician who served in the state Assembly from 1998 through 2024, is looking to land a second term in Congress. He ran unopposed in Tuesday’s Democratic primary.
The 3rd District covers parts of Burlington, Mercer, and Monmouth counties.
