New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle Commission processes millions of transactions every year. Among them are applications or renewals of driver’s licenses or identifications. With that comes an option to register to vote. The MVC then sends that collected information to the state Division of Elections.
Over three years, the MVC registered nearly 2.5 million people to vote. For 12 months starting in June 2023, though, thousands of non-U.S. citizens were improperly added.
