Rox Resources has formalised a binding native title mining agreement with the Badimia Barna Native Title Claim Applicant, providing a framework for operations at the Youanmi Gold Mine in Western Australia (WA).
The agreement covers project tenements held by Rox Resources and its wholly owned subsidiary Rox (Murchison).
It provides Rox Resources with consent for the grant and renewal of current and future mining tenure and approvals within the Youanmi project area.
This consent will apply to both existing tenements and any new applications submitted by the company in the defined region.
As part of the agreement, a structure is being established for continued cooperation on heritage protection and environmental considerations.
It sets out provisions for employment, training and contracting opportunities aimed at supporting Badimia people and businesses linked to the project.
The deal specifies the creation of a project liaison committee to maintain ongoing engagement and consultation between Rox Resources and representatives of the Badimia Barna Native Title Claim Applicant.
The agreement includes an upfront payment as well as a production-based royalty package.
The company said it is a significant stage in the progression of the Youanmi Gold Mine as it advances towards potential gold production in mid-2027.
Rox Resources managing director and CEO Phill Wilding said: “The signing of this agreement is an important milestone for the Youanmi Gold Mine and reflects the positive relationship that has been developed between the Rox team and the Badimia people.
“We thank the Badimia Barna Native Title Claim Applicant, elders and community representatives for their constructive engagement throughout the negotiation process.
“We are committed to working collaboratively with the Badimia people to ensure cultural heritage is respected and that the benefits generated by Youanmi are shared through employment, training and business development initiatives.”
The Youanmi Gold Project lies roughly 480km north-east of Perth and around 400km east of Geraldton, positioned within WA’s central Youanmi Greenstone Belt.
This belt forms part of the Southern Cross Province within the Archaean Yilgarn Craton, an area often referred to as Australia’s main gold-producing region.
Over its operational history, the project has yielded 667,000oz of gold through both open-pit and underground methods.
In March 2026, Rox Resources’ Board approved the final investment decision for its Youanmi Gold Project.
“Rox formalises Badimia Barna agreement for Youanmi operations” was originally created and published by Mining Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.
