President Donald Trump’s Texas rally for Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton was repeatedly interrupted by protesters on Wednesday, drawing loud boos from the crowd and sharp jeers from the president.
Trump was forced to stop several times during his speech to supporters in San Antonio after multiple hecklers in the crowd caused a kerfuffle, leading security to intervene. The president joked that one of the protesters was going to get “hell” at home because “his mom voted for Trump.” At another point, Trump claimed that the disruptions were coordinated by “enemies of our nation.”
“If there are any more paid protesters, please raise your hand and get the hell out of here,” the president said at the rally as he targeted the “really bad-looking people.”
“You know, many of these protesters are paid. You know that, right? Because you come in, and you know they have like this perfect shirt on, made by the best printer money can buy, and they all have — I love when they all have the same exact sign,” Trump said. “It’s all beautiful, pink and purple and blue and all different colors, and they’re perfect. Made by the same printer. Very expensive signs.”
Trump’s appearance in San Antonio comes as Republicans fight to keep Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico from defeating Paxton. The pair are engaged in a razor-thin race, according to polling, with just weeks to go until the general election.
During the speech, Trump said that starting Thursday, over 20 million seniors on Medicare, including 1.4 million in Texas, “will receive checks or deposits for nearly $100 each.”
At times on Wednesday evening, the president joked around, telling supporters he was “depressed” about his thinning hair.
“I just looked at myself from the back. This is not good,” Trump said to laughs.
“I’m getting a little thin up there. I’m not happy,” he quipped.
Mostly, Trump ripped into Talarico during his address, once again ridiculing him as a vegan and warning that the country could face a “1929-style economic depression” if the Democratic Party sweeps the 2026 elections.
REPUBLICANS WELCOME TRUMP’S HELP, JUST NOT IN BATTLEGROUNDS
The president framed Talarico as someone who “wants to destroy the lives of great people.” He said the Democrat has voted against a border wall, backed the defund the police movement, supported efforts to shut down five juvenile detention centers in Texas “to let violent thugs and gang members run wild in your streets,” and authored legislation in the Texas House “to force critical race theory and diversity, equity, and inclusion insanity into every public school.”
“When the blues get in, everything becomes dirty,” the president warned of Democratic victories. “The streets are dirty. The doorknobs going into stores are dirty. The sidewalks are filthy dirty. Everything becomes dirty and has a bad smell. But we’re gonna escape all that lawlessness and corruption.”
