The NFL is in full swing once more! And that means it’s the perfect time to turn our attention to the game of 2027 and one of the biggest halftime shows on the calendar.
On Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027, a certain famous face (or faces) will be heading the stage at the SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Rams. The question is: who will it be?
The Super Bowl halftime headliner announcement typically comes in September, but we’re now half way through October with nothing confirmed yet. Music fans are beginning to question whether the announcement is now behind schedule, and why that might be. We haven’t had an announcement this late since 2021, and that was impacted by the pandemic.
Super Bowl Halftime Show 2027: Performer Odds
Traders have been speculating on names like Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish and many more, but as the volatility of recent days has shown, the crowd is still far from decided.
We’ve recently seen a huge surge in interest for Harry Styles, who overtook Miley on October 1, before dropping back down to third place on the board.
As recently as October 6, Miley was the one to beat in the eyes of traders, because of rumors about an Apple Music IG post that was said to have been deleted within seconds.
The silhouette certainly looked like Miley, but there are a few other performers it could’ve been too… And that’s before we even get started on whether Apple actually leaked it, or whether it was in fact just an elaborate hoax that spread like wildfire (clue: it’s the latter!).
If the alleged leak doesn’t turn out to be the clue some traders are hoping, Harry Styles remains one to watch, says expert Kelsey Barnes.

The NFL and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation are expected to announce the news within days, which means time is of the essence for prediction market traders looking to adjust their positions and potentially make a profit.
If you think you know who’s going to land the most-watched 15-minute gig in the world, now’s the time to grab those contracts before prices start to rise.

Key Takeaways:
- Late Announcement: Super Bowl halftime performers are typically announced at the end of September, so this year it’s much later than normal. We likely only have days to wait.
- The Behind-the-Scenes Favorite: Traders have seen JAY-Z as a strong possibility for months, with an implied probability of 51%. He’s now back at the top of the board.
- Miley and the Alleged Apple Music Leak: A ‘Yes’ for Miley Cyrus has risen significantly in the last few weeks, going from 35¢ on August 7 to 65¢ at one point, before dropping. On October 6, she was the favorite following that Apple Music rumor. The problem is, there’s no proof Apple ever leaked it.
- Harry Styles Surges: Styles had been down towards the middle of this board for the past few months, but he’s just shot into third place as traders rush to back the star. Rumors are circulating… could it be him?
- Great Value Sleepers: Discrepancies between mainstream sportsbooks and Kalshi’s prediction markets are starting to reveal some of the best value plays for traders prepared to act quickly.

Market volume is now nearing $1,000,000. It shot up by 10% in the hours after news was teased last weekend. We can expect this to continue to rise at considerable speed as we get closer to the announcement.
Any rumored performances will cause massive price jumps, and with that a significant increase in volume on the market.
Expert Insights: Music and Culture Writer Kelsey Barnes
We spoke to Kelsey Barnes, digital editor at Schön! Magazine and contributor for grammy.com, to get her insight on what we can expect when that big announcement does come.
Miley Cyrus has been one of the names traders are backing in this market. She was the favorite until September 29, when the board flipped in favor of JAY-Z. But Barnes thinks Miley could still be the one.
“Miley has been a mainstay in music for 20 years now since the release of Hannah Montana in 2006 and she’s gone from strength to strength ever since.”
“If she was the headliner for the 2027 Super Bowl, it would feel like the right choice because of her vast and varied music. She is a bonafide household name whether you like her or not, something that I think is needed for any artist to qualify.”
“It’s also the right time in her career because she finally has two GRAMMY awards and has the discography and star power to headline.”
Over the past few days we’ve seen a massive increase in interest in Harry Styles. On October 1, Styles shot into second place on the board, before falling back to third as Miley overtook him once again on October 2. Barnes told us that as a performer, Styles “checks all three of the same boxes that Jay-Z does.”
“He has a strong discography of recognizable hits, fun stage presence from both his solo career and his time with One Direction, and the ability to create the kind of larger-than-life performance that the Super Bowl requires.”
“He also has a broad appeal across different generations — everyone from your little sister to your old rock-loving father think he’s great — which could make him a particularly interesting choice for a halftime show. If he could get a mini reunion of the One Direction members that are still with us, he would go down in history!”
JAY-Z is now at the top of the board, and of course he has well publicised links to the show through Roc Nation.
Barnes told us “it’s surprising that JAY-Z hasn’t headlined,” explaining “I do think him finally headlining would be significant and mark a stage in his career that probably should’ve happened years ago due to his work.”
“It would also bring a full-circle element to his relationship with the halftime show, allowing him to step out from behind the scenes and take center stage for one of the biggest performances in music.”
Audiences may well be more open to acts outside of just English-speaking artists or bands, given last year’s first ever predominantly Spanish-language Super Bowl halftime show with Bad Bunny.
Barnes told us, “Bad Bunny’s performance was so captivating and compelling that I think it no longer matters whether someone is speaking the predominant language or not, it just has to make someone not be able to look away from their TV!”
“It also shows that a halftime show can connect with an audience through its energy, production, and cultural impact, even when much of the music isn’t in English.”
We all have our own opinions on what makes the perfect Super Bowl performer, of course, and there’s no denying that will have changed quite a bit over the years.
For Kelsey Barnes, “the perfect Super Bowl performer will always be someone who has three things: a massive discography with hits, great stage presence, and the ability to put on a truly memorable spectacle.”
“It’s not just about having the biggest songs anymore,” Barnes explains.
“It’s about having the cultural impact and versatility to connect with an incredibly diverse audience.”
“The performer has to be able to create a moment that feels bigger than just a concert and gives people something to talk about after the game is over.”
Super Bowl Halftime Performance 2027: Best Value Options on the Board
Prediction markets are highly sensitive to any changes in narratives, especially around an outcome as widely discussed as this one.
But that means that sometimes, a rumor with no real truth behind it will cause huge overreactions on the market, resulting in mispriced picks that traders can use to their advantage.
At the moment, several big name performers come at a discount price, with traders ready and waiting to react to any new talk of who the next halftime star will be.
Here are a few of the options that are most likely to see significant price jumps before long.
Harry Styles | ‘Yes’ 19¢ | 19% Probability
Harry Styles was a value play as recently as last week, but we’ve just seen his price jump overnight. He’s now third on the board, at 19% and rising.
Styles only recently released his fourth studio album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally., and his massive Together, Together global residency tour is ongoing.
The star has been shattering records recently, including an unprecedented 12-night takeover of London’s Wembley Stadium and a massive 30-night run scheduled at Madison Square Garden through October. And importantly, his global tour ends in December, leaving plenty of room for those halftime show rehearsals in early 2027.
Could traders be on to something here? It’s quite possible.
Miley Cyrus | ‘Yes’ 42¢ | 41% Probability
Miley Cyrus is trending right now, because Apple Music allegedly posted a silhouette of a performer that could definitely be her, before quickly deleting it. The problem is, there’s no proof Apple Music actually leaked the post in question, so it may not be quite the clue some think it is.
Rumors of Cyrus potentially performing at the Super Bowl have been circulating for weeks, but leak or not, it’s definitely turned up the volume.
Miley remains one of the favorites to headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, second only to JAY-Z. Her implied probability hasn’t quite reached the high of a few weeks ago (69%), but it’s not far off.
Taylor Swift | ‘No’ 95¢ | 95% Probability
A ‘Yes’ for Taylor Swift is just 5¢. That’s a real drop from the 14¢ price we saw a month ago, but we’ve seen some slight increases in Swift’s price over the course of this week.
Swift has wrapped up her Eras tour and the re-recording of her first six albums in the past few years, not to mention her wedding to Travis Kelce.
It’s led some to wonder if she now has time for a show like the Super Bowl. But if you ask us, it seems more likely to us that she’ll opt for an extended break after the celebrations, rather than another huge performance on a global stage.
Justin Bieber | ‘Yes’ 9¢ | 9% Probability
Justin Bieber is the kind of global superstar who could easily headline a show like this. He’s got a great catalog for stadium performances, he’s currently based in Los Angeles, and he was just a part of the World Cup final halftime show (the first of its kind!).
Bieber has performed at several festivals recently, as well as the Grammys. So, it’s entirely possible that the Super Bowl could be next on his agenda. At 9¢, this feels like a great discount on a name that’s definitely in the running.
Is the Super Bowl Headliner Announcement Late?
We’ve been expecting news of the Super Bowl headliner for 2027 since late September, but now we’re half way through October it’s beginning to look like this year’s announcement is behind schedule.
We haven’t seen an announcement this late since 2021, and that was down to disruption because of the pandemic.
Could a late announcement point to changes of plans behind the scenes, or is there another reason why organisers might be keeping the information to themselves?
The following table shows when Super Bowl halftime headliner announcements have come over the past seven years.
| Year | Performer(s) | Announcement Date |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 | Bad Bunny | Sept. 28, 2025 |
| 2025 | Kendrick Lamar | Sept. 8, 2024 |
| 2024 | Usher | Sept. 24, 2023 |
| 2023 | Rihanna | Sept. 25, 2022 |
| 2022 | Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar | Sept. 30, 2021 |
| 2021 | The Weeknd | Nov. 12, 2020 |
| 2020 | Shakira, Jennifer Lopez | Sept. 26, 2019 |
Sentiment vs. Reality: Is JAY-Z Really the Favorite, or is Value Hiding Down the Board?
Jay-Z has been one of the names that’s always at the top of this board, but that’s largely down to his links with Roc Nation. He controls the creative direction of the show, and the market has priced him like it expects him to take to the stage next year.
The current price of a ‘Yes’ for the world-famous rapper might be an overreaction from the market, however. Jay-Z has never performed at the Super Bowl before, and he’s been producing, curating and selecting its artists since 2019. And it’s also worth noting that over the last few years, those artists have been global multi-genre acts.
Bad Bunny’s 2026 show proved enormously popular, so it’s likely that producers will opt for something similar this time around. That’s why someone like Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber could well be a stronger pick at the moment.
We’re expecting a big shake up of this board in as the big announcement nears. Traders who get in quickly will be the ones that take advantage of that.
A Decade of Halftime Giants
Understanding the direction that the next halftime show might be going in means knowing where it’s been before.
Ever since Jay-Z’s Roc Nation took the reins of the NFL’s musical programming, the halftime show has leaned heavily away from classic rock nostalgia and shifted toward multi-genre, modern spectacles with massive streaming and cultural footprints.
Historically, we’ve seen the production alternate between massive multi-artist collaborations and single pop powerhouses.
Bad Bunny’s historic, high-energy Latin celebration in 2026 set a huge benchmark in terms of viewership. It generated 4.157 billion worldwide views in its first 24 hours across broadcast and was the most watched halftime show of all time on a global scale.
For traders looking for patterns, the NFL often follows up contemporary, multi-guest performances with a single icon, and there are several names on the board that could work if producers choose to do that.
Here’s a look back at the performers who have been selected over the past 10 years.
| Year | Super Bowl | Headliner(s) | Notable Special Guests / Cameos |

| 2017 | LI | Lady Gaga | None |
Other Super Bowl Halftime Show Markets
Kalshi traders aren’t solely focused on the headliner for next year. There are also markets asking which celebrities might appear during the show, and traders look far more certain on some of these names.
Strategy Tips for Super Bowl Halftime Performance Traders
To navigate entertainment markets like this one, you need a good grasp of what the show’s production team will be looking for, and the ability to analyze all the touring and schedule information that’s already in the public domain.
If you know which performers will be in the running, and you know what to look at to help you count them in or out, you stand a much better chance of correctly predicting the chosen star. Here are a few strategy tips to help traders make the most of these types of prediction markets.
• Watch the Narrative Shifts and Tour Cycles: Keep tabs on industry trade publications like Billboard and Variety. Artists who suddenly announce major gaps in their early 2027 touring schedules are highly likely to see their ‘Yes’ contracts surge.
• The Flip Strategy: You don’t have to hold your contracts until February 2027. The most profitable strategy is buying underpriced artists like Eminem at 10¢ now and selling your position in the event of any leaks or new rumors circulating.
• Managing Binary Volatility: Entertainment prediction markets on Kalshi are binary. They settle at either 100¢ (‘Yes’) or 0¢ (‘No’). Protect your capital by setting strict target entry prices and avoiding overexposed positions on longshots.

Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show FAQs
The market resolves to ‘Yes’ based on the official announcement of the designated headline artist. The outcome is verified by Outcome verified from The New York Times, the Associated Press, Reuters, Axios, Politico, Semafor, The Information, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and MSNBC.
Yes, you can buy or sell contracts at any time before the market officially closes or the announcement is made. If new rumors cause your 24¢ contract to shoot up to 60¢, you can sell early to claim your profits immediately. You are never locked into a position until the final resolution date.
If the NFL selects an artist who was not explicitly listed on the Kalshi board, all listed candidate contracts will settle to ‘No’. Kalshi frequently updates its brackets to add surging names as volume grows to prevent this. However, the “Other” or unlisted pool would effectively absorb the winning payout.
No, guest performers who come out for a single song cameo do not qualify for the headline resolution. The contract strictly requires the artist to be officially billed by the NFL as the primary headliner of the show. Cameos and uncredited duets will ultimately resolve to a ‘No’ settlement.
Historically, the official halftime show headliner announcement drops between late September and mid-October during the regular football season. This creates a clear timeline for traders, as volatility will peak dramatically during those months. Prices will move fast as the traditional announcement window approaches.
