When Phoebe Philo departed Celine 8 years ago, the collective cries were heard around the world. After nearly a decade, the powerhouse designer who completely transformed Celine was on to her next chapter, leaving behind an impressive legacy.
The Legacy of Phoebe Philo’s Celine
Philo’s tenure at the French design house was nothing short of legendary, and it was under her watchful design direction that some of Celine’s most iconic bags were produced. Iconic bags aside, there are also a number of more under-the-radar designs from Phoebe Philo’s Celine that some of us might have forgotten.
Maybe they were more under the radar at the time, not getting the love or attention they deserved, or maybe they were simply discontinued before reaching It-status. Today, we’re throwing it back to one of those gone, but (not entirely) forgotten bags from the Phoebe Philo era.
Revisiting the All Soft Bag
The Celine All Soft bag first debuted in 2013 as part of the brand’s Resort 2013 collection, and one glance at it has us tickled with nostalgia for the 2010s. The All Soft bag, ahead of its time with its quiet yet modern appeal, never quite achieved the momentum of other bags of its era and eventually disappeared from the Celine lineup a few short years later.
The All Soft bag is the perfect example of what made Phoebe Philo’s Celine so special: simple yet bold and contemporary, arriving in cool color-blocking. It was (and still is) undeniably chic, and looking back, it’s hard to understand why the All Soft never saw the same commercial success as other PP Celine icons.
Still, the All Soft’s perfect slouch and relaxed, oversized silhouette make it feel so relevant in 2026, and maybe now is the time for it to get the love it deserves. Do you remember this bag?
