Employees of Inserra ShopRite of Bayonne were showcased on a special edition cereal box after they won a Partners in Caring Cheerios contest in partnership with General Mills that highlights associates who support regional food banks.
The ShopRite in Bayonne raised over $7,500 during its most recent fundraising campaign; overall, the ten Inserra ShopRite supermarkets raised over $220,000. Prize money went to local food pantries. The full ShopRite campaign brought in over $1 million.
New Jersey has roughly 180 ShopRite locations – nearly 60% of all ShopRite’s nationally. Those supermarkets are owned by about 50 individual owners who are members of the Wakefern cooperative.
ShopRite has about 45,000 employees across the state, making it one of New Jersey’s largest employers.
The Inserra family has operated ShopRite stores in New Jersey and New York since 1954. Lawrence Inserra, Jr. was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame last year.
