A fatal shooting inside a Pinellas Park-area business has led to the arrest of a man on a first-degree murder charge, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies were summoned to a business at 6612 69th Ave. N at about 4:45 a.m. Friday after hearing reports of a gunshot.
Deputies forced their way into the business and found Craig Beeth, 50, dead on the floor from a gunshot wound to the head, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Detectives learned that Robert Worthington, 44, had been at the business with Beeth.
“Worthington was distraught over issues occurring in his personal life and got into an argument with Beeth,” the news release states. “During the confrontation, Worthington pointed a handgun at Beeth and fired a single shot into Beeth’s head, killing him. Worthington fled the scene prior to the arrival of deputies.”
Worthington was arrested on Saturday. An arrest affidavit was not immediately available.
Sheriff’s officials did not name the business where the shooting occurred.
Records show Worthington was being held at the Pinellas County Jail Sunday without bail. He had not yet entered a plea.
