As someone who has been to numerous music festivals, Osheaga truly has become one of my favorites.
The Montreal, Canada based summer music festival was the first music festival I have ever been to out of the country, and I seriously cannot wait to do it all over again.
For as much as I loved this festival, every major live music events do have their pros and cons, even one like Osheaga.
So, if you are still considering getting tickets to Osheaga’s July 31-Aug. 2 festival weekend, then here is everything you should know about my 2023 experience.
Where I bought my tickets to Governors Ball
When purchasing my tickets to Osheaga, my friend and I bought them through the website with total ease.
We didn’t make plans to go to the festival until after the initial drop of tickets, so when we finally looked at the website for tickets, there were still plenty available.
We even secured tickets that were an upgrade from the normal general admission ticket, where we have an elevated viewing deck and private bathrooms and water stations to use.
There are currently several three-day and single-day tickets available on the website for the 2026 festival year, so if you’re still deciding whether to go or not, you don’t have to worry about tickets selling out just yet.
When they do sell out, we suggest looking at secondary sites such as StubHub, Vivid Seats or SeatGeek for additional tickets.
What my experience was like at Osheaga 2023
Osheaga was the highlight of summer 2023 for me, and I am already anxious to make the trip again.
My friend and I drove into Montreal where we stayed at a hotel directly in the city. Staying at a location in the heart of Montreal made it a lot easier to get in and out of the festival with ease.
The metro wasn’t hard to find and was very close to where we stayed, and it took us right to the festival ground.
We didn’t get lost once, which was one of the biggest wins of the whole trip.
Once at the festival, there was a huge area filled with local food trucks, bars and merch booths. There were six different outdoor stages, which was so much fun, I always loved the rush of running between sets to catch my favorite artists live.
There was a stage solely for EDM and as well as other major artists, such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Baby Keem, New Jersey native singer and rapper 070 Shake and, of course, Billie Eilish as the headliner.
What also made the experience so worth it was the upgraded ticket we purchased.
Being able to have private bathrooms, water bottling filling stations and a private viewing deck of two of the main stages, truly made the experience that much more fun.
Like with any all-day music event, my feet did hurt, so be prepared that a lot of walking will happen.
Compared to festivals like Governors Ball in New York, the year that I went to Osheaga had a very mixed crowd age-wise, which I was happy about. I didn’t feel like I was surrounded by teenagers, which is what Governors Ball felt like to me.
I did however have to miss the tail end of Billie Eilish’s set to catch the metro back to our hotel.
To this day, my friends and I were so happy we made that decision because we saw videos of people after cramming into the metro and having to wait in a massive line in the station because the train cars kept filling up.
So, if you do go, definitely do not stay for the whole final set because it’ll be very difficult to get home.
Were Osheaga tickets worth the price?
To me, the Osheaga tickets were 100% worth the price.
Not only were my friends and I obsessed with the lineup that year, but we also had so much fun attending a music festival in a new city and exploring what it had to offer.
I have not been disappointed by a single Osheaga lineup, especially this year which features Twenty One Pilots, Tate McRae and Lorde.
My Experience at Governors Ball
My Experience at Osheaga Music Festival
Pros
- It was really easy to get back and forth from the festival with the metro. The metro was very close to the festival grounds.
- The six different stages made the festival feel massive. It was so fun being able to experience so many different artists all over the grounds.
- The private bathrooms and water filling stations that we got when we got the upgraded general admission ticket made the festival experience so much more worth it.
- The lineup was filled with music for all kinds of music lovers. There was truly someone for everyone.
Cons
- You will definitely need to leave the headlining set a bit early so you aren’t stuck in a mob scene.
- You will be doing a ton of walking, so wear the right shoes.
- If you don’t have an upgraded ticket, you will be using the regular festival bathrooms, which got gross fast.
- It gets very hot, so you will need sun protections and lots of water.
Everything you need to know about Osheaga 2026
I am so sad I cannot attend Osheaga this year, but if you’re able to I definitely think you need tickets.
This year, I’m sad I’m also missing out this year’s epic headliners, including Twenty One Pilots, Tate McRae and Lorde.
The rest of the lineup is a great one, too, such as The Neighbourhood, Geese, Sombr, Malcom Todd, Zara Larsson and so many more incredible acts.
