Hubert Hurkacz will aim to return to the winner’s circle Sunday at the ATP Challenger 175 event in Cagliari.
The former World No. 6 advanced to the Sardegna Open final Saturday when he rallied past fourth seed Roman Andres Burruchaga 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3.
Seeking to find his best form again after undergoing arthroscopic right knee surgery last July, the Pole arrived in Cagliari with an 8-10 season record across all levels. He defeated fan favourite Matteo Berrettini in the quarter-finals, a rematch of their 2021 Wimbledon semi-final. Hurkacz will next play his first final at any level since last year’s runner-up finish at the ATP 250 in Geneva.
His opponent will be Matteo Arnaldi, who overcame fellow Italian Gianluca Cadenasso 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 in the last four.
“It was my fourth match in four days, I hadn’t played this much in a long time,” Arnaldi said post match in Italian. “This tournament is giving me a lot. Matches, confidence, rhythm — and my footwork has been improving over the course of the week. It was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to be competitive again and being able to play in a final again is very important.”
Similar to Hurkacz, Arnaldi entered this week aiming to build confidence after starting the season with a 2-8 match record. The 25-year-old has battled a persistent right foot injury that has prevented him from training and competing consistently, a stretch that he considers, “the toughest part of my career”.

Tabilo, Bergs meet in Aix-en-Provence final
Chilean Alejandro Tabilo continued his quest for a second trophy in Aix-en-Provence, where he won the title in 2024. The second seed escaped American Ethan Quinn 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(2) to earn a final showdown against third seed Zizou Bergs.
Bergs raced past Spanish qualifier Pol Martin Tiffon 6-3, 6-4 to reach the championship match. The Belgian, who is No. 39 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, would climb to a new career high should he win the Open Aix Provence Crédit Agricole. Bergs holds a 2-0 record against Tabilo, including a four-set win at Roland Garros in 2024.
